hope for my daughter.

Sweet girl, every day you open your eyes I hope it is a wonderful one.  I hope you sing and dance today.  I hope you make your teachers and classmates smile the way only you can.  I hope that when you are sad you find comfort in the people around you, if it cannot be me.  I want you to thrive, to find wonder in learning, and joy in growth.  I hope you sparkle today Zoey Jean.  I pray your laugh lights someone else’s day the way it lights mine.  You, darling daughter, are a hugger.  I hope that when you need a hug today someone is readily available to give it to you.  I hope you squeeze until you feel better.   

I hope you feel brave today.  Brave enough to raise your hand and answer the question.  Brave enough to talk to a new friend who looks like they could use the company.  Brave enough to stand up for yourself if someone is being unkind.  I hope you feel brave for the rest of your life.  Brave enough to try new things, to hope in the unseen, to have faith in what you do not know and can’t always feel.  I hope you are brave enough to share that hope and faith with others, to provide light in their lives the way it has provided light in yours. 

I hope you are kind today.  I hope you smile at friends and teachers in the hall.  I hope you help a friend when you see they need it.  I hope you say thank you when someone shows that kindness to you as well.  I hope you are kind for the rest of your life.  I pray that you are a person who makes others feel welcome.  I hope that you value people, and their worth and that your actions show them just that.  I hope people can’t help but smile when they are around you, today, tomorrow, and every day.  

I hope that you know your worth.  That you know you are loved.  You are a precious daughter of God and He sees you, sweet girl.  I hope that when you feel lost, and broken this is the one thing you remember.  I hope that you know in your bones that your hope isn’t in this world, or your circumstances, or other people.  I hope you know your hope is in Jesus. Your hope will guide you Zo, your hope will bring back all of the things that feel lost in the dark.  Your hope will light the way back to bravery, kindness, and love.  Every single time.  Your hope wins.  No matter what.
